Ventilation Lid for Hazardous Waste Containers

Suction lids are an important component in the handling of hazardous waste, especially when it comes to storage in barrels, drums, and clamping ring drums. Suction lids are designed to ensure ventilation and proper pressure equalization, as well as the safe storage of potentially hazardous or volatile substances.

Exhaust lids ensure ventilation directly into barrels, drums, and clamping ring drums, even when the lid is open for filling. This guarantees a safe and healthy working environment inside the hazardous waste facility.

As a standard, the suction lids are produced for 60, 120, and 220-liter clamping ring drums, but they can be made in other sizes upon request. Brackets for wall-mounting the lids are included, making barrel changes easier.

660-liter suction cabinets can be purchased with either manual lid lifting or alternatively with pneumatic operation. The suction lids are made of powder-coated aluminum, with transparent plastic lids.

The purpose of a suction lid is to enable safe venting and pressure regulation, preventing the buildup of hazardous fumes and protecting against sudden pressure changes that could lead to explosion risks or accidental leakage.

When hazardous waste is stored in sealed containers, chemical reactions or temperature changes can lead to the formation of gases. Without proper ventilation, the pressure inside the container can increase, potentially causing deformation, leakage, or, in the worst case, an explosion. Exhaust lids allow these gases to escape in a controlled manner, while also preventing unwanted substances from entering the container. They also ensure that operators can work safely near hazardous materials by reducing the risk of exposure to harmful fumes or uncontrolled spills.
